Topsoe to Provide Ammonia Synthesis Technology for Hynfra's Green Ammonia Project in Jordan

Topsoe, a technology provider for energy transition solutions, has entered a FEED agreement with Hynfra P.S.A. to design and engineer a green ammonia project at the port of Aqaba, Jordan. Topsoe's ammonia synthesis technology, based on its ModuLite™ platform, will convert green hydrogen into ammonia at the facility.
The project, established as a joint venture between Hynfra and industrial development company Fidelity Group, represents Hynfra's first Middle East operation. When operational, the plant is projected to avoid more than 200,000 tons of CO2e annually compared to ammonia produced from natural gas. A final investment decision is targeted for 2027, with operations expected to commence in 2030.
Hynfra plans to export the produced green ammonia to international fertilizer markets. The company stated that the project responds to supply chain vulnerabilities and global energy price volatility by utilizing off-grid modules and established infrastructure for ammonia transport.
Green ammonia is positioned as a critical pathway for decarbonizing energy-intensive industries including heavy industry, agriculture, steel production, and cement manufacturing, while also serving as a hydrogen carrier for long-distance transportation.
