Topsoe Signs Engineering Agreement for Jordan Green Ammonia Project

Topsoe has signed a Front-End Engineering & Design (FEED) agreement with Hynfra P.S.A. for a green ammonia production project at the port of Aqaba, Jordan. The facility is expected to become operational in 2030.
The project will utilize Topsoe's ammonia synthesis technology based on its ModuLite™ platform to convert green hydrogen into ammonia. When fully operational, the facility is projected to avoid more than 200,000 tons of CO₂e emissions annually compared with conventional ammonia production from natural gas. A final investment decision is anticipated in 2027.
Jordan Green Ammonia has been established as a joint venture between Hynfra and Fidelity Group, an industrial development company. This represents Hynfra's first project in the Middle East region. The produced green ammonia will be exported to international fertilizer markets.
Kim Hedegaard, CEO Power-to-X of Topsoe, stated the company is bringing its ammonia expertise to support the project's development. Hynfra CEO Tomoho Umeda emphasized that green ammonia addresses both environmental and geopolitical objectives through decoupling supply chains from unstable energy markets.
