thyssenkrupp nucera Signs FEED Contract for 260 MW Green Hydrogen Project in India

thyssenkrupp nucera has signed a Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) contract with Juno Joule for a 260 MW green hydrogen production facility in India. The project is part of a larger green ammonia complex being developed by Juno Joule and SELECT Energy GmbH, which will include integrated facilities for hydrogen and ammonia production.
Under the FEED contract, thyssenkrupp nucera will develop an integration concept for alkaline water electrolysis within the plant infrastructure. The 260 MW electrolysis plant will utilize renewable energy from solar, wind, and hydropower sources. The ammonia produced will be RFNBO-compliant and primarily intended for export to Europe.
Following the FEED phase completion, the partners plan to explore next steps, including a potential Engineering, Procurement, and Fabrication contract. A Final Investment Decision is anticipated in FY 26/27.
Dr. Werner Ponikwar, CEO of thyssenkrupp nucera, stated that the contract represents the company's first Indian green hydrogen project and marks an important milestone in advancing India's transition to a green hydrogen economy. Juno Joule's CEO noted that thyssenkrupp nucera's experience in large-scale alkaline electrolysis systems will ensure the project meets international standards for efficiency, reliability, and bankability.
