thyssenkrupp nucera Awarded FEED Study for 260 MW Green Hydrogen Project in India

thyssenkrupp nucera, a leading electrolysis technology provider, has been contracted to conduct a Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) study for a 260 megawatt green hydrogen project in India. The project involves integrating Alkaline Water Electrolysis technology into facilities being developed by Juno Joule Green Energy Private Limited and SELECT Energy GmbH.
The planned complex will produce green hydrogen and green ammonia, with RFNBO-compliant ammonia intended primarily for export to Europe. The facility will leverage India's renewable energy resources, utilizing solar, wind, and hydropower sources.
Following the FEED phase, thyssenkrupp nucera aims to progress to an Engineering, Procurement, and Fabrication (EPF) contract, with a Final Investment Decision (FID) anticipated in fiscal year 2026/27. The project's execution remains contingent on this investment decision.
Dr. Werner Ponikwar, CEO of thyssenkrupp nucera, stated that securing this contract represents a significant milestone in advancing India's green hydrogen economy. Nagasharath Rayapati, CEO of Juno Joule, highlighted thyssenkrupp nucera's extensive experience in engineering large-scale alkaline electrolysis systems.
This contract follows thyssenkrupp nucera's February partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH to accelerate green hydrogen and Power-to-X market development in India.
