Sunfire to Establish Solid Oxide Electrolysis Test Facility at BASF's Schwarzheide Industrial Park

Sunfire has been selected as a new innovation partner at Industriepark Lausitz in Schwarzheide, a major industrial complex operated by BASF. The company will construct a test facility dedicated to validating its solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) technology, a hydrogen production method known for high efficiency.
The facility is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2024. Its primary purpose is to generate operational experience with the SOEC technology that can support deployment in large-scale industrial hydrogen projects.
Jürgen Fuchs, Chairman of the Management Board of BASF InfraService & Solutions Lausitz GmbH, characterized the partnership as a significant development for the site. He noted that Sunfire's presence reinforces the industrial park's innovative capabilities and strengthens the regional industrial base.
The Schwarzheide location hosts multiple hydrogen-related initiatives and industrial operations, making it a strategic hub for hydrogen technology development in Germany.
