Sunfire Launches 50-MW Pressurised Alkaline Electrolyser Module

German electrolyser maker Sunfire has introduced a 50-MW pressurised alkaline electrolyser module for industrial hydrogen production. The system builds on Sunfire's second-generation 30-bar(g) pressurised alkaline stack technology, which is already operating in industrial plants across Europe.

The new module represents a significant scaling step, offering a fivefold increase in capacity compared to Sunfire's existing 10-MW pressurised alkaline module. According to the company, the increased capacity substantially reduces total installed costs for industrial projects while facilitating further scaling of hydrogen production infrastructure.

The pressurised alkaline electrolyser technology is designed for industrial applications where higher operating pressures improve efficiency and reduce downstream compression requirements in hydrogen production workflows.
