Provaris, Norwegian Hydrogen, and K LINE Advance Fjord H2 Hydrogen Export Project

Provaris Energy, Norwegian Hydrogen, and Japanese shipping company "K" LINE have joined forces to advance the Fjord H2 project, a proposed hydrogen export facility in Norway.
The project, developed by Norwegian Hydrogen at Ørskog, is designed to produce up to 40,000 tonnes per annum of hydrogen for export to Northern Europe. The site has secured land, completed feasibility studies, and advanced permitting to demonstrate technical and economic viability.
Provaris is supplying compressed hydrogen transport technology, while "K" LINE contributes shipping and operational expertise. The three partners will extend an existing cost model to develop refined shipping costs and draft charter agreements, financing alternatives, and ownership structures for hydrogen carriers and barge infrastructure.
Uniper Global Commodities has provided offtake support through a term sheet covering supply, shipping, and delivery of compressed hydrogen under long-term take-or-pay provisions.
According to Provaris CEO Martin Carolan, the collaboration aims to create a "scalable, cost-competitive pathway" for renewable hydrogen that meets Europe's demand for RFNBO-compliant hydrogen. Norwegian Hydrogen's CEO Jens Berge characterized "K" LINE's involvement as "a great positive milestone which strengthens the project and the entire value chain."
