Poland Allocates €500 Million for Green Hydrogen Production Projects

Poland has received €7.2 billion ($8.41 billion) in Covid recovery funds from the EU, with €500 million designated for green hydrogen development. The funds will be distributed as grants to five separate projects focused on producing renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBOs), each with a minimum capacity of 20MW.
According to Polish authorities, the subsidy program aims to encourage private sector investment in the hydrogen sector and improve project financing accessibility. The grants represent a significant commitment to establishing renewable hydrogen production capacity in the country.
The EU recovery package also includes funding for a separate initiative through which Poland intends to purchase up to 1,000 zero-emission buses, including hydrogen-powered models, supporting the country's transportation decarbonization goals.
