Moeve Awards 300 MW Electrolyzer Contract to thyssenkrupp nucera for Southern Spain Facility

Moeve has awarded thyssenkrupp nucera an engineering, procurement, fabrication and supply contract for the Onuba green hydrogen facility at La Rábida Energy Park in Huelva, Spain. The project represents the first phase of Moeve's 'Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley' initiative.
The 300 MW plant is designed to produce approximately 45,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year and reduce CO₂ emissions by around 250,000 tons annually, making it described as the largest green hydrogen plant in Southern Europe.
thyssenkrupp nucera will supply 15 standardized 20 MW alkaline water electrolyzer units. The contract value falls within the low three-digit million-euro range. Order intake is expected to be recorded in the second half of fiscal year 2025/26, with most revenue recognition scheduled for fiscal year 2026/27.
Moeve announced its final investment decision for the project in early March 2026. According to thyssenkrupp nucera CEO Dr. Werner Ponikwar, the Iberian Peninsula represents significant opportunity for large-scale green hydrogen production, and the project demonstrates that major initiatives can advance and reach final investment decision in volatile markets.
Moeve CEO Maarten Wetselaar stated the partnership combines electrolysis technology expertise with Moeve's project development and integration capabilities for large-scale operations.
