Mantle8 Secures €31 Million Series A Funding to Expand Natural Hydrogen Exploration Technology

Mantle8, a France-based clean energy company founded in 2018, announced a €31 million (USD$36 million) Series A funding round. The company will use the proceeds to scale and commercialize its natural hydrogen exploration technology platform.
Mantle8 develops geoscience and imaging technologies designed to identify naturally occurring hydrogen reservoirs beneath the Earth's surface. CEO and founder Emmanuel Masini leads the company's efforts to commercialize the technology.
The funding comes as hydrogen gains recognition as a critical component in the energy transition, particularly for industrial and transport sectors where emissions are difficult to abate and renewable energy sources like wind and solar are less practical. Currently, approximately 90 million metric tons of hydrogen are produced annually, with the vast majority extracted using fossil fuels, which generate pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions.
Mantle8's natural hydrogen exploration approach represents an alternative production method to conventional fossil fuel-based hydrogen extraction.
