LTEGL and ITOCHU Establish Long-Term Green Ammonia Supply Agreement

L&T Energy GreenTech (LTEGL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, has signed a long-term supply agreement with ITOCHU Corporation to provide 300,000 tonnes of green ammonia per year from a planned facility in Kandla, Gujarat, India.
The agreement establishes a captive long-term take-or-pay supply arrangement and advances the partnership beyond a Joint Development Agreement signed in July 2025. ITOCHU intends to utilize the green ammonia for marine bunkering applications, supporting operations in Singapore and other maritime trade routes as the company develops a green ammonia ecosystem.
For LTEGL, the agreement supports its strategy to scale green hydrogen and derivative production, positioning Kandla as an export hub for low-carbon fuels. The project aligns with India's National Green Hydrogen Mission and the country's goals to export green energy derivatives.
Subramanian Sarma, Deputy Managing Director & President of L&T, stated that the agreement translates the company's clean energy ambitions into large-scale, bankable projects while contributing to global decarbonization efforts. Hiroyuki Tsubai, Executive Vice President of ITOCHU Corporation, emphasized that reliable green ammonia supply is critical for accelerating adoption as marine fuel and supporting the shipping industry's transition to low-carbon operations.
