Lhyfe Awarded Multi-Year Green Hydrogen Supply Contract with BMW Group's Steyr Facility

BMW Group has contracted Lhyfe to provide green hydrogen to its Steyr, Austria facility, which is responsible for series development and industrialisation of the manufacturer's hydrogen fuel cell systems. The Steyr site will produce fuel cell systems for BMW's third-generation hydrogen propulsion technology, with mass production of the BMW X5 hydrogen model beginning in 2028.
The supplied hydrogen will support series development, industrialisation, testing, and validation activities at the facility. Lhyfe will deliver hydrogen using its fleet, described as one of Europe's most comprehensive hydrogen transport networks.
Lhyfe, a green hydrogen producer since 2021, operates four production sites in France and Germany with a combined capacity of up to 8.5 tonnes of hydrogen per day. The company made more than 850 deliveries throughout Europe in 2025 and plans to commission two additional sites in France by year-end. All operating sites hold RFNBO certification, confirming compliance with European renewable energy requirements.
Matthieu Guesné, Lhyfe's founder and CEO, stated that the contract represents recognition of the company's expertise and ability to guarantee reliable supply meeting major manufacturer standards. BMW Group cited Lhyfe's combined experience in hydrogen production and logistics as the basis for the selection. These deliveries mark Lhyfe's first operations in Austria.
