ITM Power Partners with Rheinmetall on European Hydrogen-Based E-Fuel Network

ITM Power, a UK-based PEM electrolyser manufacturer, has entered a partnership with Rheinmetall, a German defence company, to support the development of a distributed hydrogen-based e-fuel network across Europe.

Rheinmetall's Giga PtX programme aims to deploy several hundred e-fuel plants equipped with approximately 50MW of electrolyser capacity each. The programme targets production of up to 7,000 tonnes of drop-in NATO-compatible fuels.

ITM Power identified the initiative as representing a significant growth opportunity for large-scale hydrogen production technologies. The partnership aligns hydrogen production infrastructure with defence and energy security objectives across the European region.
