HyOrc Secures Industrial Site in Portugal for Green Methanol Pilot Project

HyOrc Corporation announced that MO.RE.DA. Oils, Lda has joined the HyOrc Start Green Fuels joint venture as a 50% partner, with HyOrc retaining 50% ownership. MO.RE.DA. Oils brings an established industrial facility in Guilhabreu, Vila do Conde, Portugal to host the planned Porto waste-to-methanol pilot plant.
The secured facility holds an existing industrial operating permit, providing a regulatory advantage. Rather than undergoing full greenfield permitting, the project is expected to proceed through a permit amendment process, reducing development timelines. The partners are also evaluating initial operation under a pilot or demonstration license to enable early deployment while commercial permitting is finalized.
HyOrc is advancing technical verification and engineering preparation for the facility, including readiness of its 35-tonne-per-day RDF gasification system that will generate synthesis gas for methanol production. The Porto facility is intended to serve as the first commercial demonstration of HyOrc's modular waste-to-methanol platform in Europe, converting processed municipal waste into renewable fuels for European energy and shipping markets.
Reginald Fubara, HyOrc's Chief Executive Officer, stated that the alignment with the industrial site owner and the existing permit "significantly strengthens the project's path toward deployment."
