GAZ-SYSTEM Receives European Commission Support for Hydrogen Transmission Operator Certification

The European Commission has issued a positive opinion in the certification process for GAZ-SYSTEM as Europe's first hydrogen transmission network operator. The company meets independence criteria established by EU regulations, with the Commission endorsing a positive assessment previously presented by the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) in March.
The certification demonstrates that GAZ-SYSTEM has achieved effective unbundling of its operations from energy production and supply activities, as required by EU regulations. The Commission noted that the current absence of physical transmission infrastructure does not prevent operator certification, allowing future operators to plan, finance, and develop hydrogen networks.
GAZ-SYSTEM has completed consultations on a hydrogen transmission network development plan and will now submit a draft ten-year network development plan for hydrogen to the Polish Energy Regulatory Office as the next certification stage.
Wojciech Wrochna, Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure, stated that the certification process demonstrates Poland's ability to cooperate effectively with European institutions. Sławomir Hinc, President of GAZ-SYSTEM's Management Board, emphasized that the positive opinion is an important step toward building hydrogen markets in Poland and Europe.
The certification aligns with GAZ-SYSTEM's long-term strategy focused on developing modern energy infrastructure and expanding activities related to decarbonization and hydrogen market development.
