EU Selects 235 Cross-Border Energy Projects Including 100 Hydrogen Initiatives

The European Union has selected 235 cross-border energy initiatives across 11 strategic corridors as part of its updated Projects of Common Interest (PCI) and Projects of Mutual Interest (PMI) lists.
The portfolio encompasses a diverse technological approach combining electrification, clean fuels, and digitalization:
- 113 electricity projects, including offshore wind connections and smart grids
- 100 hydrogen and electrolyzer initiatives
- 17 CO₂ transport projects
- 3 smart gas grid developments
- 2 existing gas interconnection projects (Malta and Cyprus)
The hydrogen and electrolyzer projects represent a substantial component of the approved initiatives, reflecting the EU's strategic focus on hydrogen as a key clean fuel for the energy transition. This selection reinforces the EU's commitment to developing critical cross-border infrastructure necessary for achieving climate and energy objectives across member states.
