Enagás Allocates Hydrogen Injection Capacity to 35 Spanish Projects

Enagás has completed Spain's inaugural hydrogen injection capacity allocation, awarding 12.64 GWh per day of blending rights to 35 renewable hydrogen projects. The selected projects represent approximately 900MW of combined electrolyser capacity and were chosen from 285 applications.
Each winning project has been granted a two-year window to bring their facilities online. The 35 projects represent 7.4% of Spain's PNIEC hydrogen target for this initial development phase.
The hydrogen injection allocation is capped at 2% hydrogen by volume—a threshold Enagás determined is compatible with safe system operation. Enagás is also advancing a €2.645 billion National Gas Network plan that includes 2,600 kilometers of dedicated hydrogen pipelines spanning 13 autonomous communities.
The allocation process reflects significant interest in Spain's hydrogen infrastructure, with the oversubscribed application field indicating strong demand for grid access from hydrogen producers.
