Elcogen Launches Mass-Manufacturable SOFC and SOEC Platform for Industrial Deployment

Elcogen has introduced the E3000 G2, an advanced solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and solid oxide electrolyzer cell (SOEC) platform designed for mass manufacturing and industrial-scale deployment. The platform builds on the company's existing E3000 technology with improvements focused on repeatability and cost reduction through higher-volume production.
In SOFC mode, the platform can operate on hydrogen, biofuels, or natural gas for on-site power generation, delivering up to 75% electrical efficiency and up to 90% when waste heat recovery is included. For SOEC mode applications, the platform produces green hydrogen using renewable energy sources at an efficiency of 33 kWh/kg.
Operating at 650–750°C, compared to the 700–850°C range of conventional solid oxide technologies, the E3000 G2 enables the use of more cost-effective materials while maintaining compatibility with both hydrocarbon fuels and electrolyzer functions.
Elcogen positioned the platform as application-agnostic, enabling system developers and integrators to deploy solutions across multiple sectors. Target applications include data centers, green steel production, ammonia synthesis, hydrogen-intensive chemical refining, residential heat and power systems, and off-grid electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
CEO Enn Õunpuu stated the platform combines performance, durability, flexibility, and manufacturability for industrial deployment, allowing partners to adapt to specific energy environments while scaling rapidly.
