Dutch E-Fuels Developer Power2X Advances 20MW Green Hydrogen Project to Final Investment Decision

Power2X, a hydrogen-based e-fuels developer, has taken final investment decision (FID) on a 20MW green hydrogen production facility in Delfzijl, Netherlands. The Djewels project is expected to produce 2,000 tonnes per year by mid-2028.
Relay, a joint venture between Technip Energies and John Cockerill, will develop the facility and supply its electrolysers. The partnership brings together established industrial engineering and energy technology expertise for the project's implementation.
The project was originally initiated by HyCC with a planned 2024 construction start. However, the timeline was pushed back following the liquidation of McPhy, the initially intended electrolyser supplier. The engagement of Rely as both developer and equipment supplier resolves this supply chain challenge.
The FID marks a significant milestone, indicating that Power2X has secured necessary financing and technical commitments to proceed with construction and commissioning of the facility.
