Consilium Safety Group Acquires Insplorion's Hydrogen Sensor Technology to Expand Leak Detection Capabilities

Consilium Safety Group has acquired Insplorion AB's hydrogen sensor technology arm earlier this year, incorporating the NPS-P2 Hydrogen Sensor and associated intellectual property into its safety solutions portfolio. The acquisition was ratified during Insplorion's spring extraordinary general meeting.
The NPS-P2 is built on nanotechnology, utilizing engineered nanostructures that detect hydrogen exclusively and produce electrical signals corresponding to concentration levels. The sensor delivers rapid response times and accurate readings at parts-per-million concentrations. It is certified for marine and industrial applications, withstanding humidity, temperature fluctuations, and vibration typical in offshore and heavily regulated environments.
Consilium, which operates over 75,000 installed systems worldwide, integrates this technology with its existing infrastructure to position itself as a comprehensive hydrogen safety solutions provider. The company is backed by parent company Antin Infrastructure Partners, which acquired Consilium in 2024.
The acquisition supports hydrogen infrastructure expansion, including refueling stations, storage facilities, and power-to-gas hubs. Safety systems are critical for preventing leaks that could create fire and explosion hazards in pipelines, storage tanks, and pressurized vessels. Consilium plans to deploy NPS-P2 sensors across refueling stations, electrolyzer sites, storage facilities, and hydrogen transport applications.
