CHARBONE Corporation Advances Ultra High Purity Hydrogen Project in Malaysia

CHARBONE Corporation announced plans to accelerate a clean hydrogen project in Malaysia focused on producing ultra high purity (UHP) hydrogen. The initiative builds on a framework agreement with Green Hydrogen ASIAPAC SDN BHD and will involve CHARBONE taking an equity position and managing on-site operations.
Chairman and CEO Dave B. Gagnon and Senior VP Patrick Cuddihy visited Kuala Lumpur to establish relationships with government officials and industry leaders while Malaysia pursues energy decarbonization targets. During the visit, the team conducted site assessments and engaged with renewable energy developers to ensure power supply alignment with local grid capacity and sustainability objectives.
Ultra high purity hydrogen, refined to near-zero impurities, serves semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and aerospace industries that require stringent quality standards. Green hydrogen production uses renewable electricity to split water, offering a low-carbon alternative that reduces transportation costs and logistics complexity compared to centralized production models.
CHARBONE's Quebec facility in Sorel-Tracy recently completed commissioning and has secured orders for hydrogen and oxygen across North America. The company has outlined a 2026–2030 plan to establish six to eight regional hubs globally, including locations in Germany and Malaysia, utilizing an asset-light partnership model.
The Malaysia project represents CHARBONE's first significant deployment of this model outside North America and aims to meet regional demand from electronics and semiconductor manufacturers while supporting local decarbonization efforts.
