Atawey Expands European Hydrogen Infrastructure with Three New Belgian Refueling Stations

Atawey, a French hydrogen refueling stations specialist, has announced a partnership with Colruyt Group and Virya Energy to deploy three new hydrogen refueling stations in Belgium. The deal marks a significant expansion of the company's European footprint, which currently comprises 51 stations across the continent.
The new stations will be designed to meet the EU's Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR) requirements and will support heavy-duty vehicles including trucks and coaches. Each station can compress, store, and dispense up to two tons of hydrogen daily, with capabilities to refuel multiple vehicles simultaneously to minimize fleet downtime.
Atawey's modular, turnkey design approach enables rapid deployment, with prefabricated components assembled on-site to accelerate installation timelines. The company has demonstrated significant growth, expanding from a startup to a 150-person operation generating €18 million in revenue with 113 percent year-on-year growth.
The company recently completed a €22 million equity funding round led by Starquest, with backing from ARMOR Group, France's France 2030 plan, and other investors. Atawey projects positive EBITDA by the end of 2025 and maintains a €30 million order pipeline from clients including HYmpulsion, Hynamics, and GCK Energy.
Belgium's dense logistics infrastructure and commitment to EU Green Deal objectives position hydrogen refueling as a key decarbonization strategy for the country's transport sector.
