25MW Electrolyser Installation Completed at Belgian Port Hydrogen Project

John Cockerill has completed the installation of 25MW of electrolysers at the Hyoffwind green hydrogen project located in Belgium's Port of Zeebrugge. The facility comprises four alkaline electrolysers and is expected to begin production this year.
The Hyoffwind project is led by a consortium of Virya Energy, Messer, and Hyoffgreen. The project reached its final investment decision in 2024, with John Cockerill and Besix appointed as engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partners.
Once operational, the first phase of Hyoffwind is expected to produce up to 3,700 tonnes of green hydrogen annually. The hydrogen will be supplied to mobility and industrial end users, though specific offtakers have not been disclosed.
